Botulinum toxin (Botox)

Botox is a drug that weakens certain muscles. When used on the face it temporary smooths facial wrinkles and shape of jaws. As a result, the wrinkles disappear and the face is finely shaped.

Q:  How does botox work to smooth the wrinkles?
A:  Botox injections work by weakening or paralyzing certain muscles or by blocking certain nerves. Your muscles will be relaxed, the wrinkles are smoothed, and it prevents new wrinkles. When botox injections are administered by the experienced doctors, your face will be naturally smoothed and you can still have normal facial expression. At Medivisage the doctors pay so much attention on how to make you look naturally pleasant.

Q:  On what part I can use botox?
A:   You can use it where there are wrinkles formed due to facial expression such as forehead, crow’s feet, and around the eyes. You can also use it on our eyebrows for bigger round eyes and younger look. For the wrinkles on the cheeks, around the lips, neck or chin, botox will be used with filler or laser to recover the skin on that particular area. Recently botox has been used for another popular purpose which is Face Reshaping. The most common areas of face reshaping are jaws and cheeks which results in better appearance.

Q:  Does botox produce side effects?
A:  Side effects are rare. You could have red or slightly bruised skin on the injected sites or the feeling that you have after intensive exercise on your jaw muscle. These symptoms will disappear by themselves within 2 weeks. What you could do to reduce botox side effects is to choose the right doctors who have experiences on botox injection.

Q:  Am I going to have more wrinkles if I discontinue botox?
A:  No. In most cases the wrinkles that reappear are those you had before. For each botox treatment, it could last for 6 – 12 months.
